The Convicting Power of the Holy Spirit - Do We Need It Today?
(John 16:8)

Today, we don't hear much about God's Law or the conviction of sin. Some preachers seem to try to avoid mentioning much about sin. Yet the Bible has a lot to say about our sin. Without a convincing knowledge that we are sinners, the need for a savior is not very clear. It is not enough just to know that we are sinners, we need to be convinced and convicted in our hearts of our sin. Today, true heart conviction of sin seems to be missing in our society as a whole. The Great Revivals of the past were noted for widespread conviction of sin, but where do we see that today? One of the reasons that the Holy Spirit would come would be to bring conviction of sin and we need that convicting power of the Holy Spirit today. Without this great convicting power of the Holy Spirit, our nation will never turn back to God. But with such convicting power permeating the nation, true revival will come. May God send it. May our prayer be - "Wilt thou not turn again and quicken us, that thy people may rejoice in thee?" - Psalm 85:6 (Geneva Bible)
